Distribution of the number of French expatriates worldwide in 2024, by host country

Switzerland is the country that hosted the most French expatriates in 2024. More than ******* French citizens were registered on the consular lists of French nationals abroad in the Swiss federation. Among the top countries in terms of the French community were also the United States, the United Kingdom, Belgium, and Canada. Each of these countries hosted more than 100,000 French nationals.

The list of countries hosting the most French expatriates includes France's neighboring countries as well as countries with a strong historical and cultural connection to France. It also includes some of the world's leading economic powers, such as the United States and China.

It should be noted that these figures only represent French nationals registered in the register of French nationals abroad. However, in some countries of the European Union in particular, it is estimated that the actual number of French expatriates is double the number of registered French nationals.
