The x86 is a family of instruction set architectures (ISA) for computer processors, also called central processing units (CPUs), which were initially developed by Intel. The company’s Client Computing segment is responsible for sales of mobile processors used in PCs.
AMD processors
AMD also designs processors utilizing x86 architecture, with the company’s ‘computing and graphics’ segment including both desktop and notebook processors. AMD, like Intel, also designs processors for use in alternative markets other than PCs, for example in data centers and high-performance computing (HPC). AMD’s ‘enterprise, embedded and semi-custom' segment also includes semi-custom system-on-chips (SoCs), a type of processor that can be found in PlayStation and Xbox games consoles.
