Police clearance rate for drug offenses in Germany from 2015 to 2025

In 2025 the police clearance rate for drug offenses in Germany was **** percent.

What is the clearance rate?

The clearance rate denotes the ratio of cleared cases to all police-registered cases. In the terminology of the Polizeiliche Kriminalstatistik, an offense is considered cleared when at least one named suspect has been identified.

Interpretation of the clearance rate

Because cleared cases and police-registered cases are statistically independent, the clearance rate can mathematically exceed 100 percent. Investigation processes involving many individual cases, for example in tax offenses, can also strongly influence the clearance rate because they often result in a high share of cases being cleared. The clearance rate in specific crime categories is also affected by the police's operational priorities.
