Soft Drinks

Taste Beats Price in Americans' Soft Drink Choices

While years of elevated inflation have left Americans increasingly price conscious, taste remains the most important factor when choosing a soft drink. According to Statista Consumer Insights, 57 percent of U.S. respondents consider good taste important, putting it 20 percentage points ahead of low price, which 37 percent of respondents prioritize. Practical considerations also play a key role, with 3 in 10 respondents naming availability as an important criterion.

In a category built around familiar favorites, choice still matters. 29 percent of Americans want a selection of favors, while differences in carbonation or caffeine content were named as priorities by 26 and 23 percent of respondents, respectively. Many consumers are also influenced by brand reputation, while sugar-free options play a key role to fewer than 1 in 5.
