In the US, the Vast Majority of Branded Hotels Are Franchisees

As the birthplace of many major hotel brands, it comes as little surprise that the US accommodation market is among the most consolidated. The franchising model has significantly contributed to the market expansion of chains; four out of five branded hotel rooms in the US are franchised, while a further fifth (19%) are chain-managed. Only one percent of the lodging capacity on offer from the branded properties is owned or liaised by the parent enterprise.
